Job Description
- Acute care pediatric RN responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Critical Care experience in PICU or IMCU required; traveler will likely float to PICU and NICU and must be comfortable in these areas.
- Schedule: 4/8 hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, including weekend rotation; no on-call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- California RN License
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA or ARC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
- 2 years of pediatric nursing experience (minimum)
- Advanced Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing (APHON) certification preferred
- Critical Care experience in PICU or IMCU strongly preferred
Prior Travel Experience

Certifications & Competencies
- BLS, PALS required
- ACLS may be required depending on position
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required (verify by position)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be required (verify by position)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exams may be required for some units
- ICU RNs at this facility may be required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- Various federal and state background screenings (EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, etc.) required and updated annually
- Education verification required; BSN preferred for RN positions
- Employment history verification for up to 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Religious exemption forms available for certain vaccine requirements and PAPR use
Work Schedule
- 4 shifts per week, 8 hours each (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- Weekend rotation included
- No on-call duties
