Job Opportunity: ICU RN Nights and EOW (Every Other Weekend)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts

Unit & Patient Population

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Level III Trauma Center
• 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU
• Patient diagnoses include Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
• Attendings and Residents present 24/7

Work Schedule & Floating

• Night shifts and every other weekend (EOW) shifts available, 36 or 48 hours
• Floating required to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
• Rotating shifts for day positions (7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a); night shift does not rotate
• RN to patient ratio:

  • ICU: 1:1 or 1:2 (high acuity)
  • Med/Surg float: 1:4 or 1:5

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of continuous Adult ICU experience, preferably in MICU
• Must be able to read telemetry strips

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License
• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)

Required Competencies & Skills

• Telemetry competency required
• Experience with EPIC EMR system preferred

Required Health & Safety Credentials

• N95 Fit Test (within 365 days, updated annually)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
• TB screening (skin test or blood test within 3 months, updated if >6 month break)
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred

Background & Compliance Checks

• Criminal background check (within 45 days prior to start)
• Massachusetts CORI background check (within 30 days prior to start)
• Social Security Number trace (past 7 years addresses)
• National sex offender registry check (within 30 days prior to start)
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid)

Additional Requirements

• Documentation of 2 references within 4 years (minimum 1 supervisor)
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
• Skills checklist (completed within 1 year)
• Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and updates if start date changes

This is a travel RN position in a high-acuity MICU setting requiring at least 2 years of continuous adult ICU experience, Massachusetts RN licensure, and specific certifications.
