Job Opportunity: Case Manager - Registered Nurse
Location: San Pedro, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Case Manager role in an acute care setting. This is a travel contract position with a start date ASAP. The facility has 82 beds with an average daily census of 50-55 patients.
Key Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Case Management)
- Experience: Acute care experience required with a hard stop on Medical-Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, ICU, and some Emergency Room (ER) experience.
- Case Management Experience: Must have case management experience specifically in California.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
- Licensure: Valid California RN license required. Pending licenses are not accepted.
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not a first-time traveler (prior travel experience required).
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- IV Certification (as required)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (as required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (as required)
Note: Certification requirements may vary based on clinical track and specialty.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of case management experience, with case management experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in care coordination, utilization review, and discharge planning.
- Proficient with InterQual utilization review criteria.
- Acute hospital case management experience.
- Acute care nursing experience including Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), Telemetry, ICU, and Emergency Department (ED) settings.
- Experience working with Epic electronic health record system.
Additional Information
- Background checks must be current and cover all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps.
- Must complete all required facility-specific and regional training modules annually via the designated LMS platform.
- Fit mask testing required onsite unless a valid record is already on file.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital setting.
- Patient census approximately 50-55 daily.
- Float policy may require working at other nearby facilities within a reasonable distance.
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with case management expertise in California who have prior travel contract experience and are ready to start immediately.
