Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide support to Obstetricians, surgical scrub techs, registered nurses, and Charge Nurses in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) setting.
- Perform patient assessment, monitoring, and communication under supervision of a Charge Nurse.
- Follow local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- May mentor and train students.
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year, including Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment history verification covering 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- Professional references: 2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates; 1 for per diem non-acute care
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD) with annual renewal
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IGG titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
- Drug testing and respiratory safety clearance required prior to start
Competency and Documentation
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required
- Photo for badge (passport-style) required
- Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
