Registered Nurse - Medicine Pediatrics

Shift & Hours
- 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekends and holidays required
- Float Pool position with floating to multiple pediatric units including:
- 34-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- 25-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
- 112-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (limited to feeder growers, low acuity patients)
- Acute care units: surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (gastrointestinal, neurology, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down unit, cardiac pediatrics
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments; note changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe and intervene as necessary
- Administer medications, initiate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
- Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and make referrals as needed
- Delegate tasks to support staff
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Pediatrics nursing experience of at least 1 year, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with tracheostomy care (trach)
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy (hi flow)
- Familiarity with infusion
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
- Behavioral Health experience
- Stepdown experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program
Additional Information
- Must be able to float to all children’s units listed
- NICU floating limited to low acuity feeder growers, not traditional NICU patients
