Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Santa Monica, CA
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Location: Santa Monica, California
- Facility Type: Acute Care Facility
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:20
- Start Date: ASAP
- Dress Code: Business casual with lab coat or dark solid scrubs with lab coat
Required Experience
- Current acute hospital experience within the last 6 months is mandatory.
- Prior travel experience is required (not a first-time traveler).
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid California RN license required; pending license accepted.
- Must have current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation).
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM).
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
Work Requirements
- Weekend shifts: Minimum 2 weekends in a 4-week schedule.
- No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions.
- Knowledge of Interqual and Epic systems required.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel staff.
- Fit mask test required annually (travel only).
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS.
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).
References & Employment History
- Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable acute care specialty.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
- Work history verification may be required if reference requirements are not met.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be able to float to other nearby facilities if needed.
- All certifications and compliance documents must be current and verifiable.
- This position requires adherence to all facility-specific and state-specific regulatory requirements.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 0.5 years of Case Management experience
- Case Management experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Knowledge and experience with Utilization Review, specifically InterQual
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
