Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
Weekend shifts required
Floating between similar units required
Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion
Locals and first-time travel nurses accepted
On-call requirement: Pending
Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
Social Security Card (as applicable)
Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
Education verification (nursing degree) required
NURSYS license verification required
Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
Drug screening: 9-panel within 12 months (instant acceptable)
Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel nurses
Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)

Training and Competency Requirements

Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Labor and Delivery nurses must have Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC) or complete Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
ACLS certification may be required depending on unit/clinical track
IV certification as applicable

Additional Notes

Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities
References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
Facility uses Epic for charting; Epic training modules required for access
