Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Unit
Location: Simpsonville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Float Requirement: Must float to other qualified units within the health system as needed, performing only tasks for which competencies have been demonstrated and documented.
- Patient Population: Orthopedics, bariatrics, and telemetry unit patients.
- Medication System: Pyxis
- Electronic Health Record: Requires 1 year of EPIC experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience in orthopedics and bariatrics
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including SS trace, alias searches, and county/state checks for all places lived/worked in the last 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG searches required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Fingerprinting required if applicable based on residency/work history.
- Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified; diplomas are not accepted as placeholders.
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Immunizations and titers: TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days), Flu vaccine or approved exemption, Hepatitis B documentation, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for high-risk areas if applicable.
- Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation.
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and quality requirements.
- Online Modules: Completion of approximately 12 hours of online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment. Modules must be completed before starting onsite.
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication and arrhythmia competency exams required prior to orientation with two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation.
Training and Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, and TJC National Patient Safety Goals.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually.
- Color Blindness Testing required for nurses assigned to Emergency Department and Pediatric ER.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for RNs.
- Floating Policy acknowledgment required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for a floating assignment to other units within the health system as census demands.
- Candidates should be ready to complete all required testing and modules promptly to avoid delays in start date.
- Certification renewals and verifications must be current and valid at the time of assignment start.
- This position requires strong clinical skills in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing with experience in orthopedics and bariatrics preferred.
