Unit Details

• Specialty: Labor and Delivery
• Patient ratios: 1:2 in labor; 1:4 in antepartum
• Staffing: Day and night shifts each include 1 charge nurse, 3–4 RNs, and 1–2 CSTs
• Common procedures: Vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, bilateral tubal ligations, D&C, uterine tamponade devices, magnesium drip titration, Pitocin drip titration
• Floating areas: Antepartum; postpartum for OB assignment only
• Weekend schedule: Rotating weekends

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
• ACLS
• AWHONN
• NRP

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to circulate in the L&D OR
