Patient ratio: 6:1
Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks (staffing based on patient census)
Equipment used: GE Apex Pro Telemetry box, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, Glucometer
Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week
Floating: May float to post-surgical med/surg unit or PCU for telemetry overflow
Procedures performed: telemetry monitoring, paracentesis

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
BLS certification
Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be renewed annually)

Recognized for nursing excellence (Magnet® designation)
Emphasis on patient safety and compassionate care
Strong interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
Supported by director, manager, and clinical educator
Unit uses GroupMe for communication and team engagement
Several travelers have extended contracts due to positive work environment and teamwork
New equipment and supplies are regularly requested and implemented
Dress code: Navy blue or gray scrubs; no royal blue scrubs allowed (reserved for OB/LD unit); scrub jackets and long sleeve shirts under scrub tops allowed in any color or pattern
