Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location

  • Frankfort, Kentucky

Job Type

  • Travel assignment
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Hours per week: 36

Unit Information

  • Unit: 4th Floor Med/Surg, 46 beds
  • Patient ratio: 6:1
  • Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks (staffing based on patient census)
  • Equipment used: GE Apex Pro Telemetry box, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, Glucometer
  • Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Floating: May float to post-surgical med/surg unit or PCU for telemetry overflow
  • Procedures performed: telemetry monitoring, paracentesis

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kentucky
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be renewed annually)

  • Post-dialysis assessment skills

  • Blood transfusions
  • EKG interpretation
  • CPAP management
  • Port access

  • Dress code: Navy blue or gray scrubs; no royal blue scrubs allowed (reserved for OB/LD unit); scrub jackets and long sleeve shirts under scrub tops allowed in any color or pattern

Patient Experience Requirement

  • At least two years of med/surg experience to meet patient care standards
