Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology
Location: Concord, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour day shifts (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM), 4 days a week (4x10s)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Schedule Details:
- Monday to Friday with variability in day off
- Holidays required
- Weekends as needed
- Rotating call: Monday-Friday 6 PM - 11 PM, Saturday/Sunday 7 AM - 11 PM
Job Summary
Provide quality nursing care to inpatients and outpatients in the radiology department, including pediatric, adult, elderly, acutely and chronically ill patients. Be prepared to handle unexpected emergencies during radiological procedures while ensuring patient privacy, dignity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with policies and procedures to provide optimum patient care using the nursing process
- Prioritize patient needs and act as patient advocate
- Assess biological, psychological, sociological, and cultural needs of patients and families
- Monitor patient condition including vital signs and electrocardiogram changes; initiate nursing interventions as needed
- Recognize, document, and assist in treating contrast reactions
- Intervene in emergency situations
- Assist radiologists with special procedures requiring professional nursing skills
- Administer conscious sedation and monitor patients accordingly
- Administer other medications as appropriate
- Provide continuity of care for critically ill patients
- Use special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, oxygen equipment, ventilators
- Document patient status and nursing interventions accurately
- Follow patient identification protocols
- Prioritize nursing responsibilities within the department
- Provide health teaching and procedural information to patients and families
Required Qualifications
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License
- 3 to 5 years of nursing experience, including critical care experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Knowledge of nursing practice areas including physical assessment, aseptic techniques, IV skills, and universal precautions
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Strong judgment, initiative, and proficiency in nursing skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Computer literacy
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
