Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Days, 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Floating between PCU, Tele, and Med Surg
  • Schedule is published 6 weeks out, with assignments provided 2 hours before shift start

Required Qualifications

  • Active state RN license
  • 2 years of experience in med/tele
  • 1 year of PCU experience
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
  • Must be comfortable managing titratable drips, including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 2 attempts before signing the contract

Unit Details

  • Float pool assignment across MedSurg Tele and PCU
  • May care for patients in ED holding areas
  • Common patient types include geriatric, ortho, post-procedural, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4; MedSurg Tele 1:5-6
  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Nurse aides are used in all settings

Additional Notes

  • Must be flexible
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Solid color professional scrubs currently; navy scrubs later per dress code update
  • Orientation includes general hospital orientation plus unit-specific shifts on MedTele and PCU
