Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Progressive Care Neuro Trauma Unit
• 23 beds
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 6-7 RNs, 2 Aides
  • Night Shift: 6-7 RNs, 2 Aides
• Patient Ratio: 4:1
• Equipment: Bedside monitors, End tidal O2 monitoring, high flow oxygen, chronic ventilators, subdural drains
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Hampshire
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
• Experience in step-down units
• Telemetry experience

Skills and Experience

• Must have:

  • Telemetry experience
  • Step-down unit experience
• Preferred:

  • Neuro experience
  • Trauma experience

Typical Procedures on Unit

• Chest tube management
• EEG monitoring

Work Environment and Schedule

• Floating to all inpatient units including ICU and Emergency Department (ED)
• Dress code: Professional attire, no specific scrub color required
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend off; no on-call required
• Weekly hours: Approximately 36 hours
