Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Kennewick, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

16 private rooms on 2 North floor
Trauma Level 3 facility
Patient population: Geriatric and Adult
Patient ratios: 1:4 standard, 1:3 for higher acuity
Electronic Health Record system: Paragon (McKesson)
Unit specialty: Medical-Surgical
Common diagnoses/treatments: Alcohol detox, Post PCI, DKA/HHS, Cardiac issues, GI problems, BIPAP use

Position Details

Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts every 2-week pay period
Call requirements: Yes
Float requirements: Yes

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Experience with medication titration

Additional Information

No block schedules
Must be located more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify as travel
Dress code: Standard professional attire required (no unprofessional attire)
Recreational area includes golf courses, parks, and is located in Washington Wine Country
Facility serves the Tri-Cities area (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland) with 111 beds total

Pros

This Cath Lab is only travelers at the moment and has locum doctors on rotation. Some days are very slow but there is also a couple IR doctors who does some easy procedures.

Cons

On call is currently 7 consecutive days on then you get 4 days off before going back on due to number of staff present.
