Med-Surg unit with 54 beds, including an 11-bed dedicated ortho/spine unit
Patient ratios: 1:5-6 for RNs; RN/LPN teams with 10 total staff per team
Unit staffed with secretaries (weekdays until 8 pm), techs, and externs as available
Equipment includes Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse oximetry, specialty beds, transfer equipment, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG and feeding tubes
Documentation system: Meditech
Scheduling requires at least one weekend shift within a 4-week period; scheduling may be flexible and case-by-case
Floating within unit discretion
Patient population includes medical-surgical, orthopedic/spine, trauma, and psych medical hold patients

Thorough assessment, prioritization, critical thinking, and time management skills
Experience with general medical-surgical procedures including post-catheterizations (without intervention), laparoscopic appendectomy/cholecystectomy, thoracentesis/paracentesis, interventional radiology procedures, stable trauma care, hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, busy Med-Surg and Ortho/Spine unit
