Registered Nurse - ER (Emergency Room)
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Shift Details
- Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Available to work every other holiday, if needed
- Charting system: EPIC experience required
- Floating: Required to float within skillset
- Locals: Registered Nurses within 75 miles are not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- Experience administering IV vasopressors
- Proficient in CPAP/BiPAP management
- Ventilator management experience
- Skilled in patient triage
Unit & Patient Population
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Patient types: Adults and geriatrics with all emergency diagnoses
- Special equipment used: Bair hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
- Scrub color: Navy blue and white combinations
Required Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room

- Color blind testing required (one-time)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- NIH Stroke Certification required and updated annually
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background) required
- Facility-specific pre-employment compliance attestations and new hire forms required
- Parking pass form required during orientation
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (amphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, fentanyl, heroin, opiates)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

- References required for direct hires (2 references within 3 years)
