Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant / Operating Room

Overview

• Travel/Contract assignment in Randallstown, Maryland
• Day shift: 5x8 hours, 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM
• 40 hours per week
• Contract length: 14 weeks
• First-timers accepted
• Local candidates accepted
• Weekend call is required
• Weekday call: 4:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend call: 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM
• Holiday call shift is required
• No float requirement is indicated
• Block scheduling is not accommodated

Required Qualifications

• First Assist Technician (2 years of experience)
• First Assist Technician experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NBSTSA
• CSFA or ABSA
• Experience with robotic surgery
• Experience with total joint surgery procedures
• Experience with orthospine surgery
• Tissue handling, clamping/cauterizing, suctioning/irrigation, wound closure, ligation, and drainage tube placement
• Aseptic technique and sterilization/disinfection experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching hospital experience
• Community hospital experience

Additional Experience / Skills

• Experience with total joints, breast procedures, plastics, rhinoplasty, laparoscopic procedures, and robotic surgery
• Robotic experience may include colorectal, gynecologic, and urologic procedures
• First Assist skills include tissue handling, clamping/cauterizing, suctioning/irrigation, wound closure, ligation, drainage tube placement, and other intraoperative first-assist functions

Unit / Department Notes

• Surgical Assistant department includes PAs and Certified Surgical Assistants
• Supports a wide variety of surgical cases

Time Off / Scheduling Notes

• Up to 14 days of RTO is auto-approved
• Every other winter and summer holiday is required, with no RTO approved
• No RTO on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day
