Medical Surgical Nurse

Overview

Travel/contract role in Battle Creek, Michigan
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
36 or 48 hours per week available
Contract length: 26 weeks
Holiday coverage is required
Must be available for the first two weeks of orientation
Will float to other Med Surg units
Works every other weekend
Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Michigan
Med Surg experience within the last year
1 year of Med Surg experience
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

37-bed Medical, Surgical, Oncology unit
Cares for general medical patients and a wide variety of surgical patients
Common patient types include gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological, ortho/neurovascular, and cardio/pulmonary cases
Typical night staffing ratio is 1:5–6
Ratios may flex to 1:8 with RN paired with an LPN for support

Work Expectations

Must be willing to work with a variety of staff, including RNs, LPNs, and techs
Floating depends on need and is typically about once per week
