Job Details
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts (7pm–7am), approximately 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks (3 of 4 weekend shifts required), holidays included in rotation
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 depending on acuity
- Orientation: 3 days floor-specific orientation
- Floating: May float to other telemetry units including T5, T6, Neuro Telemetry
- EMR: Cerner (PCs in patient rooms)
- Monitors: Philips telemetry monitors; RNs must interpret EKGs
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac stepdown, lung transplant, chronic pulmonary (CP), myocardial infarction (MI), pre-transplant, esophagectomy, emergency room overflow, detoxification
- Ventilation: CPAP, high flow oxygen
- Support Teams:
- IV Team (SWAT RN) available for difficult IV sticks
- Respiratory Therapy 24/7
- Pharmacy 24/7 with pharmacist on floor during day shifts
- Charge Nurse: Present; nurses should not take patients when census is high
- Nurse Aides: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on days and nights
- Uniform: Navy scrubs
Contract Length
- Minimum 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Arizona
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of core nursing experience in Cardiac Telemetry or related specialty
- Trauma Experience: Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Certifications: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association)
- EMR Experience: Cerner experience required
- Exams:
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance; maximum 2 attempts allowed
- Pass/fail exam on Day 1 of orientation
- SIMs Lab: Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required (pass/fail); additional training on lifts, restraints, and wound care provided
- Other: Must be able to interpret telemetry EKGs
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Prior travel experience is required for certain specialties (ED, Neuro ICU), but not explicitly stated as required for this role
- Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
- Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
- Cannot hold concurrent contracts with other employers during assignment
- Must have been off permanent staff status with the employer for at least 12 months to be eligible for travel assignment
- Parking provided with shuttle service; night shift parking in garage
- Teaching hospital environment; nursing students may be present
- 50-mile radius rule applies (local rate not applicable)
