Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work as part of a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Resource Float Pool.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6.
• Must float within scope to meet facility needs; may float between units on two campuses.
• On-call requirement: 2 on-call shifts OR 2 additional shifts every 6 weeks.
• Weekend shifts as needed.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Local candidates not accepted (must be outside a 75-mile radius).
• Pending license accepted if obtained prior to start date.
• Must pass arrhythmia and medication tests on the first day of orientation.
• Fit testing may require shaving; failure to pass fit test results in contract cancellation.
• Attendance policy: Missing more than two shifts in a 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may lead to contract review and possible cancellation.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; facility-specific form required.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity (vaccines, positive titer, or approved exemption) for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, 2-dose Heplisav, positive titer, or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31); mask required if declining.
• COVID-19 vaccination: Dose 1 and 2 required or declination form if not fully vaccinated.
• Drug screening within 90 days of start (10-panel plus Oxycodone and Marijuana).
• Respirator medical clearance within 1 year if respirator use is required.

Orientation and Compliance

• Must acknowledge and comply with orientation safety manual.
• Facility-specific orientation and documentation will be provided prior to start.
• Photo for badge required (headshot on plain background).
• Must complete facility-specific on-call policy form.
• Pass/fail testing includes arrhythmia and medication tests; moderate sedation test may be required for some units.
• Attendance and compliance with all testing and documentation are strictly enforced.

Background and Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked.
• Education verification: Associates degree or higher required for RNs.
• Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.
• South Carolina SLED criminal records search required regardless of residency history.
• Two professional references required within 3 years of start.

Additional Notes

• First-time travel nurses are accepted.
• Candidates must submit all requested time-off (RTO) upfront; no changes accepted after submission.
• Candidates must be able to work night shifts as specified.
• No block scheduling or local hires accepted.
