Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg Inpatient Rehab

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• Care for a 15-bed unit (13 single rooms and 1 double room) with a typical patient ratio of 5 patients per nurse
• Provide inpatient rehabilitation nursing care for patients recovering from life-changing events such as surgeries, strokes, and multi-trauma
• Occasional titration of drips including heparin based on lab results, blood infusions, and occasionally IVIG; antibiotics are the most common IV drips and do not require titration
• Work alongside 2 CNAs per shift with ratios of 1:7 days and 1:11 nights
• Charge nurses typically take a modified assignment of 2-3 patients but may take a full assignment when circumstances require
• Rehab provider/PA available during daytime hours Monday through Friday and 2 weekends per month; hospitalist on-call services available on weekends with provider accessible via secure messaging or phone at night
• No block scheduling or set patterns; management provides scheduling
• Weekend and holiday coverage required (24/7, 365 days per year)
• Floating to inpatient setting required if unit is overstaffed
• No telemetry on the unit
• Charting system: EPIC
• MedSurg experience required; inpatient rehab nursing experience preferred but not required
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS
• Professional scrubs in any color required
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving of 50+ lbs throughout each 12-hour shift

This acute care facility operates at a Trauma Level 2 designation and is home to a highly regarded inpatient rehabilitation unit known for its strong teamwork culture, positive atmosphere, and exceptional leadership. The 15-bed rehabilitation unit provides intensive nursing and rehabilitation strategies to help patients improve functional outcomes following major medical events. The facility uses EPIC as its charting system and maintains 24/7 coverage across all inpatient units to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care.
