Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring specialized cardiac device experience, including Impella, IABP, and ECMO, on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting in a hospital environment
- Night shift schedule, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week
- 13-week travel contract
- Patients include complex cardiovascular cases requiring advanced hemodynamic support and post-open heart surgical care
- Proficiency with Impella, IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), CRRT, and ECMO required
- Post open heart day 2 care is a key component of the patient population
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or eNLC compact license) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — no other issuing bodies accepted
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Hands-on experience with Impella, IABP, CRRT, ECMO, and post-open heart care required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Responsible for managing an assigned group of cardiovascular ICU patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, IV infusions, blood product administration, and medication management
- Collaborates with physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after completing 26 weeks (one contract plus one extension) before being eligible for another contract
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding requirements immediately upon accepting an offer

The unit I was on was mostly made up of travel nurses, which they seem the hire some of the laziest people I’ve ever met. There is a reason they offer such a high pay rate because this place is horrible.
