Registered Nurse (ICU - Cardiovascular)

Shift: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Job Description

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage care for an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications, regulate and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and discharge.
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
• Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.

Specialized Experience

• Experience with Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), post open heart surgery day 2 care, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is required.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nursing experience within the last year.
• Experience with Impella and proficiency in its use.
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and proficiency in its use.
• Experience with heart recovery care.
• Proficient in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
• Experience with post open heart surgery day 2 care.
• Proficient in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) with ICU experience.
• Experience with acute dialysis.

Additional Information

• Must be proficient in managing cardiovascular ICU patients requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support devices.
