Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU Nurse Educator role in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of acute or critical care experience and strong clinical teaching and coaching skills.
Details
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Position is based in a community education department within a hospital setting
- Supports education for core staff, travelers, contract labor, and interdisciplinary team members across multiple units
- Flexible scheduling may be required, including days, nights, and weekends to reach all staff populations
- 8-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care, critical care, or procedural nursing experience
- Strong communication, coaching, and teaching skills
- Ability to work independently while following established education plans and content
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include delivering assigned clinical education content, providing unit-based rounding, just-in-time coaching, and competency validation
- Documents education completion accurately and identifies barriers to completion, escalating concerns to Clinical Education leadership
- Assists with focused re-education when audit findings or practice observations indicate additional support is needed
- Partners with facility educators and clinical leaders
- Previous experience in nursing education, clinical teaching, competency validation, nurse residency or transition-to-practice programs, preceptor development, or staff onboarding is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with high-risk education, regulatory readiness, or quality/safety initiatives is helpful; training and orientation will be provided
- Comfort with education tracking tools, LMS platforms, or competency checklists is helpful; training and orientation will be provided
- Previous experience at this facility is preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
