Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift ICU RN requiring 3 years of ICU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• 17-bed ICU within a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center
• Patient population includes sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, COVID, and DKA cases
• Surgical patients include general, open abdominal, ortho (total joints), ENT, and OBGYN cases
• Cardiac/vascular patients include fempops, CABG, EVAR, valves, post cath (radial and femoral), AAA, and amputations
• No complex neuro patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0730
• 36 standard hours per week
• EPIC EMR preferred
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Unit-specific equipment includes NxStage CRRT
• May float within scope of practice to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), or Observation units (1:4)
• Travelers float first when required
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core ICU experience within the last year
• Skills required include vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath care, CVVH, and CRRT
• Cardiovascular and CV surgery experience preferred, including IABP and Impella familiarity
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs (2 during day, 1 at night), a receptionist/HUC from 0700-1930, a charge nurse with occasional patient assignment, a PM ICU Supervisor Monday through Friday, phlebotomy for peripheral IV draws, an educator, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• ICU-specific pharmacist available on days
• One day of orientation includes meeting with the educator for badge access and login setup, a meet-and-greet with the Nurse Manager, and the remainder of the shift with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday per contract, on an every-other-holiday rotation
• RTO requests must be approved through the manager
• Schedules are built in 4-week increments
• Scrubs may be any color, but camo, graphics, logos, and designs are not permitted
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
• More than 2 sick calls may prompt a discussion with the traveler and evaluation of the contract, potentially resulting in termination
