Job Opportunity: PACU RN (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts

Job Details

• Shift: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (primarily evening shift; occasional day shift rotation; no night shifts)
• Hours: 36 or 40 hours per week
• Unit Description: Post Anesthesia Care Unit supporting General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, and Gynecology
• Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adult, and Geriatric
• Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 2 patients
• Bed Count: 34
• Daily Census: 30 to 40 patients
• EMR System: EPIC
• Floating: Not required

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• License: Active Massachusetts RN license
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of RN experience in PACU or related specialty
• Certifications:

  • AHA ACLS (American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) — Salem facility requires AHA certification only (no Red Cross accepted)
• Additional Requirements:

  • N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no onsite fit testing)
  • Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine or proof of immunity
    • Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
    • TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
    • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
    • Other recommended vaccines: Hepatitis B (strongly preferred), Tdap (preferred)
  • Passing scores on medication and advanced dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum)
  • Criminal background checks, CORI, SSN trace, sex offender registry, and exclusion checks as required by Massachusetts and facility policies
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required
  • Resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Two professional references within 4 years (minimum one supervisor)
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
