Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry Unit
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit & Patient Population
- 28-bed elective surgery and trauma unit
- Specializes in post-surgical care for spinal, orthopedic, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
- Level III trauma patient care
- Medical-surgical overflow when volume permits
- Capability to monitor up to 8 telemetry patients
- Patient ratios budgeted for 1:5, may flex up to 1:7 maximum
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit focused on Ortho/Bariatric/Colorectal post-op patients
- Float, every other weekend (EOW), and holiday shifts required within contract
- Work schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts (overtime after 48 hours) — candidate preference requested
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Royal Blue (not provided)
- Must submit Qualivis Cover Sheet and current NURSYS report including all Return to Office (RTO) dates
- Facility has zero tolerance for any background or license issues; candidates with any hits will be disqualified
- Candidates must complete all required facility-specific documents and certifications prior to start
- Candidates must be prepared to float and work holidays as scheduled
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic surgical and trauma environment with a focus on telemetry and orthopedic post-op care in a beautiful coastal Virginia location.
