Job Opportunity: Case Manager
Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Case Manager role requiring cross-training on all units to provide coverage as needed.
- Acute Care experience is required.
- Floating to various units based on need.
- Variable shift start times between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
- Work schedule includes every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum 5 years of Acute Care experience, including experience within the last year.
- Minimum 5 years of Case Manager experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by AHA or ARC.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by AHA or ARC.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Tech Cert Verification - National.
- Medication Administration Badge (MAB).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AHA/AAP; Instructor or Advanced Provider Course preferred.
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) – verify by position.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – typically required for Labor & Delivery.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – verify by position.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
- Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others.
- Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- TB Screening Questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter.
- Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually.
Documentation and Other Requirements
- Professional license verification and copy required.
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps.
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical acute care roles.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Photo for badge (passport-style).
- Completion and signing of various facility-specific documents and policies prior to start.
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry, etc.).
Additional Notes
- Floating to various units requires flexibility and adaptability.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
