Position Details

• Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: 30-bed Adult Psychiatric Unit (ages 18-65)
• Patient Population: Adults with diverse mental health issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis (including detox), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, wound care, diabetic care)
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7-8 patients
• EMR System: EPIC
• Floating: Yes
• Shift Rotation: Required for Day Rotate (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a); rotation not required for Night positions
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours, rotating shifts and every other week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with adult patients in an inpatient setting
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Proficiency in using automatic medication dispensing systems (Omni Cell)
• Experience in charge nurse roles

Certifications and Compliance Requirements (must be current and verifiable)

• BLS (AHA)
• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no onsite testing; no exemptions allowed)
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
• MGB Medication Exam with 80% passing score within past year
• Documentation of MMR immunity or vaccination
• TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Physician Health Statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
• Criminal Background Check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
• National Sex Offender Check within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
• Education verification of highest degree achieved
• Social Security Number trace as part of background check
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission

Submission Requirements

• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
• Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year
• Candidate submission coversheet (current version)

Additional Notes

• Rotation includes days, evenings, and nights for day rotate positions; night positions do not require rotation
• Floating to other units may be required
• Positive TB test requires negative chest x-ray documentation
• Name change documentation required if legal name differs from credential documentation
