Overview

  • Travel assignment in Kansas City, Missouri
  • 48 hours guaranteed
  • Start date: 11/30
  • 32-bed Neuro ICU
  • 3 12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend, or 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule period
  • Floating may include NSICU, Cardiac Telemetry units (4 North and 4 Central), Progressive Care Unit (4 West), Burn Unit, ED Inpatient Overflow, and other units as needed
  • Meditech documentation system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Neuro ICU experience
  • Neuro ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Trauma patient management
  • IV administration of vasoactive medications
  • Chest tube management
  • Care of post-op surgical patients
  • Cardiac rhythm identification and management
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Care of stroke patients
  • Hemodynamic and ventilator management
  • Chest tube placement
  • Ventriculostomy experience

Preferred

  • ICU experience
  • TNCC

Unit Details

  • Unit secretary available 0730-0000
  • Patient ratio: 2:1
  • Advanced skills needed: hemodynamic and ventilator management
  • Procedures performed on unit: chest tube placement, ventriculostomy, moderate sedation, CRRT, therapeutic hypothermia, ECMO, arterial line placement, and central line placement
  • Requested skill set includes trauma patient management, IV administration of vasoactive medications, ventilator management, chest tube management, care of post-op surgical patients, cardiac rhythm identification and management, hemodynamic monitoring, and care of stroke patients
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Level 1 Trauma Center
  • MICU 16 beds / SICU 16 beds

Pros

This MRI department is amazing! The nurses there are awesome! My experience there was exceptional! The patient care was outstanding!!

Cons

The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
