Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Travel Position

Location: Houston, Texas
Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), 2nd Floor
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Shift: Not specified

Unit Information

12 beds
Patient-to-nurse ratio typically 1:2; may be 1:1 depending on patient acuity
Day shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 nurses, 1 secretary
Night shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 nurses
Equipment includes Impella, IABP, PrisMax, ECMO, Alaris IV pump, Edwards Hemospheres, ventilators
Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
Floating areas: Medical ICU (MICU), Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit (CVIMU)
Dress code: Royal blue scrubs
Weekend schedule: Every other weekend required; no on-call

Typical Procedures

Recovery care for open-heart surgery patients
Intubation and extubation
Bedside bronchoscopy
Bedside line insertion

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
Ability to care for patients with advanced cardiovascular devices

Personality Fit

Willingness to be a team player

Additional Notes

No prior travel experience explicitly required
No on-call duties required
