Unit Overview

40-bed clinical decision/direct admit unit
Focuses on ED decompression, enhanced throughput, admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders
Patient ratios: 1:5 for Step-Down, 1:6 for MedSurg, and 1:5 when combined
Minimal bedside procedures
Uses Baxter IV pumps
Documentation system: Cerner

Schedule and Work Expectations

Every other weekend
No call
Assist with holidays
Floating to other units within skill set is expected

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
2 years of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
Med Surg experience
Telemetry experience
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

Charge nurse experience or willingness to consider it

Additional Notes

Navy blue/white scrubs, or a combination of the two colors
Teamwork and a positive attitude are emphasized
Travel nurses often request extensions on this unit
