Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Shift Options:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- 4 shifts of 10 hours (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) — typical schedule
- Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
- On-call: No
- Floating: Possible floating within Perioperative facility, within scope
- Block Scheduling: At manager’s discretion
- Number of Operating Rooms: 9
- Guaranteed Hours: May be called off up to 10 hours per 2-week period
- Precepting: May be required to precept a care team member in the OR
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams June–November; peak in August and September
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Employment Application/Resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Background Check (within 1 year) including:
- SSN Trace
- County, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- Education Verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- State License Primary Source Verification (active, unencumbered, no pending actions)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN licensure)
- Work History Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or fewer if applicable)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be obtained prior to starting clinical work; process may take 5-7 days
- Facility-specific photo for badge (passport-style, solid light background, business casual attire)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Annual TB Questionnaire completion required
